With over 1,000 people in attendance and over 200 panel shop entries for the award we won, we couldn’t have been happier when Mike Munroe read out our name – our award was sponsored by JLT Insurance.

The prestigious 2018 VACC Industry Awards gala ceremony was held in Melbourne at the Crown Palladium last Saturday night. It was the VACC’s celebration of 100 years in Victoria.

We knew we were a finalist for the award, but we had tough competition. As we have only been running with our new (sister) company 1300 WE REPAIR for 1.5yrs we didn’t know what chances we had. We hoped for the best, booked a table of 10 and turned up in our best for the evening! Kate Cebrano sang, Mike Munroe hosted it and there were many key players in the motor vehicle industry there in attendance, from car dealerships, to motor mechanic repairers.

The VACC Industry Awards is an annual event hosted by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce, the peak body for the state’s automotive industry, in 2016. But the VACC has been around for 100 years – this was their 100th year celebration awards night!

So why did Essendon Panels win?

VACC stated on their website:

“High standards are important to the automotive industry, so the VACC Industry Awards were initiated to recognise and promote those businesses who reach high, and attain and sustain business excellence,” said VACC Executive Director, Geoff Gwilym.

Thanks to the VACC, elite auto businesses from across Victoria came together to see top achievements in mechanical and body repairs; car, motorcycle, commercial vehicle, and farm machinery sales; tyre retailing; service station and convenience store operations; auto recycling; towing; engine reconditioning; parts and component manufacturing; and aftermarket and retail business operations.

New to the 2018 VACC Awards was a category called the Unsung Hero category.

Michelle our co-owner was a nominee for this award category too!

VACC stated that a record number of applications were received for the 2018 VACC Industry Awards which were assessed by a panel of judges, whose decisions were audited by an independent standards representative. Considerations were made for customer service, training, occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, and more.

The VACC stated that people can be assured that any business winning a VACC Industry Award this year is a genuinely great business and the “VACC congratulates each of them” (Mr Gwilym stated).

Our Brand Ambassador Lana (see above) worked closely with Michelle and Nick to ensure we put our best foot forward for 2018, and we can now say we believe we have achieved that. We hope we can go onto to win many more awards as we continue to grow in Melbourne north western suburbs as the premium standard that car owners expect for their smash repairs.
